What is a hot wallet?

Hot wallets are used to send and receive crypto currency. They are connected to the internet, so the private keys required to sign transactions are always online. The advantage of this approach is that users can quickly and easily trade their digital assets. Transactions are recorded on the blockchain in an automated way, without the need for human involvement. They are not recommended, however, for securing assets of high value; since the private keys are always connected to the internet, they are vulnerable to theft if the security of the system is compromised.

What is a cold wallet?

Cold wallets maximize the security of your crypto assets by keeping your private keys stored offline on a device that is not connected to the internet, thus keeping hackers at bay. Human involvement is required to digitally sign each transaction so it can be recorded on the blockchain. Cold wallets are not intended for frequent asset trading, often taking 24-48 hours to transfer funds, since their private keys do not come into contact with any online systems and human intervention is needed.

What are blockchain networks fees?

Blockchain fees are an essential aspect of sending and receiving cryptocurrencies. A blockchain fee is a small amount of cryptocurrency that users pay to complete a transaction on a blockchain network. It’s a fee that is paid to the network`s miners, who confirm and validate the transaction and add it to the blockchain ledger. What is two-factor authentication?

Two-factor authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security for your account. By requiring a six-digit code in addition to your password, two-factor authentication keeps your account secure, even if someone gets a hold of your password. To enable 2FA, you'll need to download Google Authenticator on your trusted device like your mobile phone. When signing-in to your account, on your trusted device(s), open Google Authenticator and a randomly generated six-digit code will automatically be generated that you will need to type in when prompted after you login with your username and password. To link Google Authenticator to your account, use your Google Authenticator app on your trusted device to scan the QR code that will be generated when you first sign up to your account.
